    You most likely did Image/Rotate Canvas/Flip Canvas Vertical. It's important to understand that 'canvas' deals with the complete image and not a single layer.

    Mask Pro 3

    I seldom use Extract, have tried Mask Pro 3 and Knockout 2 and didn't like them either. They should be easy to use, but for some reason I spend more time on masking images when I use any of these three, when I would have done it the alternative way(s). \:]
