How to scan newspaper article w/ text and pictures?

You definately want 300 DPI if you plan on printing. In Design is a great program to make your scrapbook. If you descreen in Photoshop use a combination of your scanning software to remove the distortion and also a tool like this: Descreen plug-in for Adobe® Photoshop&reg -Cheers

    Lines

Also when trying to get a better glow effect increase the range setting to about 21% under, outer glow. This will help increase the outer glow intensity and change the blend mode to Normal

    Lines

Mquis is absolutely right. Your best bet is to start by drawing paths. If you change the shape of the brush tool so that it is more oval and skewed to one side, you can actualy stroke the path with the brush. Make sure the brush has a soft edge and is rather small, maybe 2-3px for fatter lines...

    Simple but difficult!

First of all, just because the Gamut warning is revealing issues, every printer is different. Do you have printer software that has allowed you to load a printer profile into Photoshop? The best thing to do if you don't mind wasting a few sheets of paper is simply this: 1. Crop the entire photo...

Trying To Make A shirt In Photoshop

Are you going for more of a cartoon effect, comic, or realistic? That's all a huge factor. Typically for this kind of stuff, when it comes to T-shirt design, I actually like to draw the design out on paper, scan it in to Photoshop and then color it. If you can provide a drawing, I can probably...

    Fuzzy!

When you first create your document, what pixel ratio are you using? If you are only using 72ppi things will appear more fuzzy vs. having 300ppi. Do you have problems with your screen or is it just Photoshop? Cheers

Need help with makin this header look more realistic

Is that a spay gun? My recommendations to get a more realistic affect is to not use such a solid line around the white border. Break it up a bit and don't make it looks so fluid. If you have ever seen a real paint splat, it is anything but uniform. Also add more splatter effects around the paint...

quick help please? need to round corners.

You can first do a selection around the decal. With the selection tool still selected, use the refine edge tool to extend the selection and soften. Keep the radius at just over +2 or +3 and combine with Contact/Expand to float the actual selection just a few pixels above the decal borders. Once...

    removing text

What is behind the text? Is it just white or more texture and color? You can use a combination of the clone stamp and healing brushes. Sometimes what I will do is first do a large selection around all the text, blur it out until it gets quite fuzzy. This way I still have all the colors there and...

    Help with lasso work

The lasso is good for quick selections that don't have to be that accurate, but 9x out of 10 I just end up using quick mask or the pen tool. I prefer to use the pen to create a path and then convert it into a selection. That way I don't have to mess around with all the issues that you describe...

    Transparency and Photoshop

RE: Transparancy in Photoshop If I understand what you are asking correctly, all you have to do is open the Alpha channel from PSP into Photoshop CS4 as a PNG and then paste it into a blank alpha channel on your document. Just as you add new layers in Photoshop, just add a new Alpha channel and...
