Layer lockout part 2 --the mask

Thanks, Steve. I'll try that this weekend. Happy Thanksgiving!

Layer lockout part 2 --the mask

Thanks for the responses. The reason why I'm not clicking on the layer mask IS the problem. I can't get the selection box to go around the mask. I've tried alt-click several times along with single click, double click, frustrated single and double and alt click(s) ;), and every other combination...

Layer lockout part 2 --the mask

Maybe these will work. They are in 16 bit, RGB pro. And I alt-clicked the layer mask icon. So frustrating. But thanks for your help! I think it worked! The first one is from clicking on the layer mask icon, the second screen shot is when I click on the layer itself.

Layer lockout part 2 --the mask

I've tried to click on the thumbnail. What the color mode refer to? I haven't heard of that before. I'm new, though.

Here are the screen shots. and I hope they show up. It looks like I posted the wrong code. Can you see it?

Layer lockout part 2 --the mask

I saw that as soon as I posted. :) I was just waking up and not quite "with it" yet. I tried alt and get nothing. I'm going to try to post a screen shot.

Layer lockout part 2 --the mask

Hi! I'm glad you up at this hour! I'm going to try that right now. I don't know how to post a screenshot. Is there a thread for that? In fact I"m pretty sure I've posted to the wrong forum--I should have posted to the newbies one. Maybe a moderator can switch it for me? I'm new to...

Layer lockout part 2 --the mask

I searched and saw the recent "locked out" post, but I still can't find my answer. I use layer masks and do work on them, then go do something else. When I want to add to the former mask(s), the mask icon is grayed out . When I click on the mask , nothing happens. When I double click the icon...

New and needing help to meet deadline

new posts. ...My zip file help is now gone for a few hours. I can't believe I'm laughing right now, because it's just ANOTHER hurdle to cross and I'm really trying! :) I have zip files now. I just need to wait til my source comes back or find a zip uploading tutorial on the net.

New and needing help to meet deadline

I can't seem to post the zip file link(s). Do I need to make 6 more posts to be able to post the link, per requirements of this site? I will see what I can do if that's the case.

Okay, thanks, working on it. By the way, why is my text always white (invisible) when I write a post? I have to click black on the font icon.

Thanks for responding. The raw file is 2226 x 2284 pixels, that I can convert to either dng or tiff as well as cropping to the areas I most need help with. There are some other pictures that don't have as many problems, but I'd love to be able to do something with this one particular shot.

New and needing help to meet deadline

Hello! An acquaintance saw some pictures I took and asked me to take her family's holiday photo. I took some a week ago Saturday, and promised she'd have her pictures by Wednesday. Unfortunately, my friend lost her phone and--long story shortened--I only had a few minutes at sunset to take the...
