Here's my attempt. Also attaching a cropped version.

    Step-and-Repeat (Shft+Ctrl+Alt+T)

In CS5, once you convert to a Smart Object, then the step-and-repeat does not work at all. I tried with the Move tool active vs. inactive, and I tried both raster and vector shapes inside the smart object. No matter what, step-and-repeat does absolutely nothing on a smart object.

    Step-and-Repeat (Shft+Ctrl+Alt+T)

@IamSam, in the layers panel of your screenshot above, are these Smart Objects with a vector shape inside it? Or is this how newer versions of PS display vector shape layers? In CS5, a vector shape layer consists of a color picker linked to a vector mask. Inside the vector mask is the actual...

    Step-and-Repeat (Shft+Ctrl+Alt+T)

I thought I'd start a new thread rather than add confusion to Alexandria's recent post. With the caveat that I am still using 15-year-old CS5, here are a few observations about rotating an object around a circular path. Raster Layers Raster layers are straightforward. Select the object and go...

    Polygonal Lasso is too small

I have CS5 and Windows 10. I signed up for the Win 10 extended support, so I have at least another year before I must upgrade to Win 11 and — to my horror — possibly discover that CS5 is no longer compatible. I can't say whether Win 11 is your problem. But I'm aware of two things in CS5 that...

    Array shape on a circle

In my old CS5, the Move tool is irrelevent. The rotations behave identically whether the Move tool is active or not. Any raster shape will replicate itself on individual layers, but a vector shape will do the rotations all within the same layer. Obviously, this situation has changed in newer...

    Array shape on a circle

I suggest you try the elliptical marquee tool just as an experiment to see if that fixes the problem. If switching to the elliptical marquee does not prevent you from doing any other, unrelated steps, then it's probably easiest if you simply use it and move on. My version of Photoshop is about...

    Array shape on a circle

When you're creating your small ellipses, are you using the Shape Tool or the Elliptical Marquee Tool? If you apply the command Ctrl+Shft+Alt+T to a vector shape layer, it will rotate all the shapes on one layer, rather than multiple layers. I have replicated this effect below, as you can see...

    Reminiscing I guess ...

I was thinking exactly the same thing a couple of days ago. There hasn't been an interesting "how to" in quite a while. I haven't experimented with AI apps and I'm not sure what they can do. But it sure seems like a lot of people must be somehow doing their own edits instead of coming here.

Removing remnant border around selected objects

Always many ways to get to a result. Here's another approach: Create a layer mask as best you can, but it will still have the problem of the white halo. Activate the layer mask itself and apply a Gaussian blur of one or two pixels. I used two pixels. Here's a side-by-side comparison of the...

Very interesting video. (And I actually liked his monotone voice—very soothing.)

How to implement flair on eyes?

I also struggled a bit to get his effect for the "flare". The outer glow was acting strangely. Here's a simpler way. Do the first two glowing layers as he has described. For the third layer, where he adds the flare motion blur, do this instead: Activate a soft brush with foreground color of...

    Push Notifications

For the past week or more, every time I log into PSG I get a pop-up asking me for permission to enable "push notifications". I keep replying "No", but then it ask me again the next time I log in. It seems never-ending. Not sure if this is relevent, but my browser is Firefox and I have it set on...

    Smoothing out a busy background

I like @IamSam's approach. But if you really do prefer to smooth out the background, then Surface Blur would work well. Copy the image to a new layer and convert the layer to a Smart Object. The SO allows you to apply a surface blur, but then go back later and tweak the settings if you change...

Unrap a 3D curved object to a flat 2D object

Unwrapping and flattening a truncated cone gives the general shape of the diagram below—specifically the arc portion shaded in gray. Photoshop has the ability to accurately draw this kind of shape, but it does not have the ability to calculate any of the required dimensions. Those calculations...
