Help me understand a few things with layer, masks and embedded assets

I'm sticking with my trusty CS5. There are several new features in the last dozen years that I really wish I had, but there are also a lot of unnecessary bells & whistles, and the frame tool seems like one of those. Adobe has offered a poor solution to something that was never much of a problem...

Specific Add or mirror my left leg in this picture

It was much easier for me to copy his open eyes into the original photo. Hope that's ok.

Help me understand a few things with layer, masks and embedded assets

I've been breathlessly following this thread because I was completely baffled by the OP's mask on the left of an image icon. I have never in my life heard of the frame tool until just now. Live and learn.

Specific Add or mirror my left leg in this picture

This was fairly difficult because you're essentially standing on one leg. Simply mirroring your left leg would look all wrong because your hips and balance point don't match up with somebody standing evenly on two legs. I finally decided on this—completely new legs. Also, you're going to have to...

Removing star paths due to camera motion

All of your sky images are soft-focus, which makes the Dust & Scratch filter very appropriate and fairly easy. For other images where the surrounding areas are sharp and need to retain detail, it can be trickier. Here is a general guideline for how to use the D&S filter: Always use it on a new...

Removing star paths due to camera motion

That's very interesting. In my old CS5, I first tried using your recommended settings and it did nothing. I needed to crank it up to 21 and 4. I may soon need to stop giving out Photoshop advice because my version is so out of date.

Removing star paths due to camera motion

Here it is. The technique and final result is the same as Babine's, but I kept your at the original large size.

Removing star paths due to camera motion

@Babine , Did you reduce the size of the OP's original image before you used the Dust & Scratches filter? The reason I ask is because the D&S filter worked very nicely when I tried it, but for me, the settings need to be Radius = 21 and Threshold = 4. I have a very old version of Photoshop. I...

Saturation Differences in Photoshop vs. Firefox Browser

@IamSam and @thebestcpu Thanks to both. I adjusted my Firefox settings and activated the Photoshop warnings. Now that I've confirmed that what I see on the screen in PSG is "correct", I can be alert to any differences after importing to Photoshop.

Saturation Differences in Photoshop vs. Firefox Browser

John, Here are my current color settings. I guess the first thing I should do is to check the boxes to activate the warnings. Are there any other settings here that you think I should change? For this particular image (the hair strand), if I change it in Photoshop to Adobe98, the resulting...

Saturation Differences in Photoshop vs. Firefox Browser

Thanks. This helps me isolate my problem. It seems that when I view an image in PSG using Firefox, I am seeing accurate colors. But for some reason, if I save the file and open it in Photoshop, it immediately becomes less saturated. So now I've got to figure out why that is happening.

Saturation Differences in Photoshop vs. Firefox Browser

In a recent free edit request (Remove Hair Strand, posted by Flowers), she liked my edit but asked me to restore the original image vibrancy. I did not make any image adjustments at all, yet when I view my edit in PSG compared to her original post, I see obvious color differences. Here's a...

    Specific Remove hair strand

I didn't make any color adjustments at all, but now that you mention it I do see that your original post is more vibrant than my edit. I'll need to investigate why that is. Here's a new one that should be a better match.

    Specific Birthday gift

Re-posting to exclude a few other minor contrast adjustments I had made earlier. This one is exactly as the original, but resized at 300ppi and 30 cm height.

    Specific Birthday gift

Here's the edit. I also reset the image to 300 ppi and approximately 20cm x 30cm, and changed the color space to Adobe98, all of which works better for something to be printed. Also providing version 2, an alternative crop.

Need Help Creating a Custom Brush

In my original post, I used the very first brush I created, which was 125 pixels. This is larger than my immediate need, but — just as an experiment — I enlarged it beyond 125 pixels and then ran into my pixelation issues. After one of your posts, I went back and created a second custom brush...

Need Help Creating a Custom Brush

I did the same with my shape. I took the vector version, enlarged it to 2500 pixels, rasterized and made a brush that is perfectly crisp at that huge size. Maybe this is how all brushes are made.
