Help with getting a graphic to conform to an odd shape

Thanks! You can still help with the final part :) I seem to have it scaled correctly on the screen now. So how do I print it to my home inkjet on regular paper for test fit purposes. I know it will take a few sheets, but is there some sort of print option where it knows where to split the image?

Help with getting a graphic to conform to an odd shape

I think I understand what you are saying but that would not have given me the effect I wanted, at least I don't think it would. There would have been many lightning bolts going over the edge of the guitar and therefore the purple ends would have been cutoff. But I may very well be...

Help with getting a graphic to conform to an odd shape

Well my idea is to actually embed leds under the graphic in certain areas to make it glow and maybe even pulsate if I can design it correctly. I won't be using EMGs on this one. Probably do some purple or pink dimarzios or some variation there of. The image that is in the psd file is actually...

Help with getting a graphic to conform to an odd shape

Thanks for the hints guys, I have learned alot about photoshop over the last 2 days. Next big question is how can I size this to actual guitar size and hopefully print out some practice sheets with my inkjet to make sure all the spacing is correct before I have the graphic made.

Help with getting a graphic to conform to an odd shape

Thanks. Next question, the part of the image I just altered with the warp tool. How to I extend the edge of the image out by some extra pixels so I can cut some off after it prints in real life? Or did I need to do that with the original tool?

Help with getting a graphic to conform to an odd shape

Ok second attempt came out better I think, I still made a couple of small boo boos but I think they can be corrected on another layer? Here are two versions, one over the template, the other over the actual body I took the photo of.

Help with getting a graphic to conform to an odd shape

By filling the middle route I mean that a 570 is HSH so the center ball of the graphic would fall on the center single coil pickup. I typically don't use those anyway, so I will fill the single route in with wood. That will make the guitar H H like the one I posted.

Help with getting a graphic to conform to an odd shape

It is an Ibanez full MIJ RG570, I will be filling the middle pickup route most likely. What I do is get a vinyl wrap done like they use on vehicles now. It works really well. I strip the body, repaint with the base coat, clear it, then I apply the decal, touch up the edges, repaint the edges...

Help with getting a graphic to conform to an odd shape

I think I set the opacity in the wrong place, I went ahead and finalized and it still looked cloudy. I think I know where to set it now, but it means I am doing it over. Which is ok actually because in order to get some of the edge alignment I pulled some points in and after I finalized they...

Help with getting a graphic to conform to an odd shape

Sorry about not supplying the image, I wasn't sure exactly what to put up really. I did watch a vid yesterday on the puppetwarp and it did seem a little daunting. I tried it yesterday also but it seem to distort the image in a way I didnt want it to. Now after playing with it again I realize...

Help with getting a graphic to conform to an odd shape

Here it is resized of course. Basically I am trying to get the very center of the ball to stay the same size, while extending the edges of the image so that it appears that the purple edge strikes are on the edge of the the guitar body, it that makes sense. Without altering the size of the...

Help with getting a graphic to conform to an odd shape

What is the best way to post the images? Just in jpeg form hosted by photobucket? or do you need it in the photoshop format with the layers, etc?

Help with getting a graphic to conform to an odd shape

I tried that and it doesn't work for what Im after, unless I'm not doing something properly. Plus it appears to change the entire image.
