Photoshop altering jpg images at just opening them?

Both images look identical in all my image viewers and in Photoshop. I guess there must be some corruption in the original jpg, or something in my Photoshop has changed or has become corrupt that makes this happen for this particular image. Unless some completely new thought comes up, or maybe...

Photoshop altering jpg images at just opening them?

That's certainly very informative. But still, I can't find the answer to my original question: Why does Photoshop display this specific jpg differently from other viewers? I have set Windows 10 to use sRGB IEC61966-2.1 I have set Photoshop to use sRGB IEC61966-2.1 This jpg image has no...

Photoshop altering jpg images at just opening them?

I am not doing any photo critical stuff with Photoshop. So you are absolutely right that my understanding of (and interest in) colour spaces is lacking and was never of much interest to me. Ignorant me was proud of himself for setting the icm profile of my monitor for both Windows and Photoshop...

Photoshop altering jpg images at just opening them?

Thanks again for your time and effort thebestcpu. But I still have some questions. (please don't pull your hair out ;-) I have checked some more jpg's with similar diagonals, and they all display correctly in PS. So it seems I just ran into a very odd duck with this specific jpg? 1. I still...

Photoshop altering jpg images at just opening them?

Hm, looks like I am stepping into unknown and dangerous territory. I see the jpg uses some YCbCr colour space, but the png uses rgb. Perhaps that is the complicating factor here? Damn, I wish I never spotted this ;-) p.s. The forum didn't display both pictures in my previous post, and it seems...

Photoshop altering jpg images at just opening them?

I tried to edit my startpost to include the image, but that also doesn't seem allowed? I'll add it here. I won't be able to test the browser colour-managing stuff today, but I am still wondering about why the jpg version poses the problem and the png doesn't, and how colour profiles may play a...

Photoshop altering jpg images at just opening them?

Thanx thebestcpu, - They are screencaptures, but I also included a link where you can download the original jpg file. - When I view the original jpg image in e.g. paint.net or faststone image viewer it looks like the 'original'. - PS version is CC19.1.6 (also hidden at the bottom of the...

Photoshop altering jpg images at just opening them?

Thnx pauloalex_98. I searched all over the place but I can't find any dedicated settings for opening or importing jpg images.

Photoshop altering jpg images at just opening them?

This is weird. I noticed when opening a jpg image in Photoshop some diagonal lines looked aliased and distorted. Original: When opened in Photoshop: And to clarify, both with 400% zoom: First I thought it might be a result of me having experimented with colour profiles. (without a good...

how to draw an arc shape?

Thank you all guys! You convinced me. I'll wait for when I am in a patient and tranquil mood, and then try to master the pen tool. Thanks IamSam for the links. (Yes, I understood that I could erase parts of a circle, but the first reply from Rich54 explains why that wasn't a preferred method...

how to draw an arc shape?

I was afraid of that ;-) But you are probably right, and it might be a good idea for me to set my reluctance to the pen tool aside, and see if I can get to master it a bit.

how to draw an arc shape?

thnx IamSam, but that's for making a full circle. I want arcs.

how to draw an arc shape?

I am loosing my mind a bit, not succeeding in figuring out this seemingly simple challenge myself. I want to draw an arc. What I would like is the green parts from the screenshot. (but then of course a perfect curve) It would probably have to be some sort of shape, since I would like to change...

How to have a blending layer with transparency not to mix with another one?

I was confused in the beginning, but now I have your solution working, and I think it is a very good one! Also nice to see that the guru's here found my little challenge interesting themselves. That makes me not feel too silly myself. Thanks again everybody!

How to have a blending layer with transparency not to mix with another one?

Thnx peta62 and MrToM! I now have it exactly working as I was hoping for. Great forum and members.

How to have a blending layer with transparency not to mix with another one?

Thnx Tom, I'll try that out later. (going out now) The reason I was hoping for some easier 'dominance', 'overruling', 'clipping' setting, is that then I could keep the transparency layers as intact as possible for succeeding and repetitive actions with those layers.

How to have a blending layer with transparency not to mix with another one?

I was guessing that maybe there was an option to have the 'small man' layer only displaying parts of it's picture where the above layers are 100% transparent. So clipping all parts of that image where any layer above it has non-transparent pixels. (sample psd attached)

How to have a blending layer with transparency not to mix with another one?

Ok, guys, I posted in this newbie section for a reason. If I set opacity for 'medium man' to 100, he turns black and will loose the lightness that it has currently.

How to have a blending layer with transparency not to mix with another one?

Hithere, Each of these three 'people' have there own layer, with their own transparency setting. As you can see, where the medium man and small man overlap, the image gets darker. Is there a way to set 'overrule' or 'dominance' (lost for correct words here) to the layer with the medium man...

how to apply a color and gradient to a transparent pattern?

Ah wait, I think I got it. I needed to remove the fx that were set in the pattern layer. Thanks guys, just some more practice and I should be able to accomplish everything that I wanted with this.
