    Color Balance Algorithm

    I am not clear...why do you need to 'solve the algorithm' when it is already in Photoshop? Color Balance results in something like Linear Burn and Linear Dodge. That is, duplicate the background then assign linear burn and convert the layer to a channel and you'll get the result for that...

    I am not entirely clear. A color can't be in the image if it is not in the palette it is associated with. You want to find the colors in the palette that are not used? Do you expect this to be a lot of the color set? what do you need as a result (a list of colors)?
