    Please help with lasso tool

And "Fade the edges" is called "Feather" in photoshop. Under Select>Modify>Feather.

    Achieving this Effect

Start with a thin white box, and add motion and gaussian blurs as needed to get the horizontal line that you want: Then, create a larger vertical white box, and use gaussian blur to soften the edges: Then, set the blending mode on the "glow" layer to "overlay": Finally, duplicate the...

    Achieving this Effect

The quick and dirty answer is you want to look at the layer Blending Modes. This effect is most likely created using some gradients and the "Overlay" blending mode. See attached picture. Hope this helps.

    ellipse tool problem

You have the selection type set as "subtract" on the options bar (but only for the ellipse tool, it sounds like). You need to set that back to "normal". See image. Hope this helps.

Change color and other things ONLY for added person..

Go back and read post #5. I pointed this out at 10am this morning.

Change color and other things ONLY for added person..

Go back a few steps to where you had the adjustment layer above your two layers... then alt+click between the layers. That will make the adjustment layer ONLY affect the layer right below it. OR, select the top layer and go to Image>Adjustments>Levels (Ctrl+L) rather than using an adjustment...

Change color and other things ONLY for added person..

Magical powers of photoshop. I like that! But it IS possible... If he's creating an adjustment layer as a means of changing the brightness/contrast/levels/whatever, both layers could be below the adjustment layer, and therefore be affected. When he turned the layer back to visible, both...

Change color and other things ONLY for added person..

Ok, still need a screen shot. I really have no idea what's going on without seeing it.

Change color and other things ONLY for added person..

What version of Photoshop are you working with? Can you take a screen shot so I can see what you're working with?

Change color and other things ONLY for added person..

How are you changing the contrast? Through the "Image" menu or by creating an adjustment layer within the layer's palette? Going through the "Image" menu will allow you to change just one layer, but the effects are permanent to that layer. An adjustment layer will by default affect all layers...

Change color and other things ONLY for added person..

You need to have the two images (background and added person) on two different layers in order to manipulate them separately. Post the image you're working on for specifics.

    animation to website

File>Export>Render Video, if that's what you're asking. As far as embedding the video in your site, not my forte.

    Red tint

First, run auto tone and auto color (CS5). That will make a huge difference in itself: Then I went in and adjusted the levels manually on the face to decrease the red and bring up the blues a bit. Now the colors are a little bit better, you can start to think about really touching it up...

Coloring individual parts in a brush

Ok, now I'm curious what I'm doing wrong here. How did you post your image. Mine are looking super pixelated, and that's not the way they are being saved on my computer.

Coloring individual parts in a brush

Yeah, looks great. You could have a little bit cleaner lines by making some selections prior to brushing, but that is more of a preference thing. The one below has super sharp lines, but I really prefer yours, I think.

Coloring individual parts in a brush

Yep, warp tool. Coloring the existing image would be a BEAST! Time consuming. My best guess (about the original image) is that it was created in color to begin. When it was converted into a photoshop brush, it dropped to gray scale. I don't know that it's possible to do the process in...

Coloring individual parts in a brush

Yes, I understand what you mean. I don't know of a way to make it exact with an existing brush. You could create your own ribbon. Here's one that I just made:

How's this look? That has similar effects applied.

Coloring individual parts in a brush

I saved it as a low res jpg. It also looks a little sketch without the gradient behind it and drop shadow applied to the ribbon layer. Also, I scaled the brush way down to fit it on the canvas. Could be any of those.

    Yo! from the Garden State

Hey Nwertz, I just joined today as well. Having to post a bunch so I can do some post links / do some freelance work on here. If you make the switch to CS5, might as well just plan on making a day of it. I've made the upgrade on two PCs now. On the first, I uninstalled CS3 prior to the...
