    Odd pattern in scanned photo

Thanx for the tip, hawkeye. I used the plugins and came up with this, a big improvement. crop-2 by turbodog2000, on Flickr $1r_M4x1mu$, that's amazing. I'll try scanning at higher rez (I used 600 dpi, but I think my scanner goes up to 1200 or 2400), and see if the scanner has a descreen...

    Odd pattern in scanned photo

My wife gave me an old photo to scan and repair, and it has an odd pattern in it due to the textured photo paper it was originally printed on. I'm pretty handy with Photoshop, but this one has me stumped. Does anybody have a clue as to how to remove this pattern? Any advice would be greatly...

    Merge multiple images

Altho it was made for astrophotography, Registax works well with any type of image. It will align and stack the images automatically. There are a lot of options, but the defaults will probably work fine. Tutorial available on their web site, or do a Google search.

Retouching an old photo - before and after

PS. That was the tutorial for colorizing it. To remove all the flaws, I used the clone, healing brush and content-aware fill tools.

    Making fun of co-workers

A guy at work started a friendly rivalry by pasting some of our faces into a funny photo. He forgot to shut down his computer when he left today, so here's what he's going to find as his wallpaper when he comes in tomorrow morning. He's the guy on the left.

Retouching an old photo - before and after

Nice. Yeah, the hairline and eyebrows have also been tough. I haven't done any levels/curves adjustments on the overall image yet. I figure I'll wait till I have all the damage repaired and then work on that. This small copy doesn't show it, but the emulsion on the photo is pock-marked with...

Retouching an old photo - before and after

I'm finding that the skin color is hard to get right. Every time I work on it, I change it till it looks right. Then, next time I open it to work on it, it looks wrong again. Oh, well, it's my first attempt at colorization, and I'm in no hurry. Eventually I'll get it.

    Einstein in Technicolor

Looks good, tho the hue of his forehead looks a bit different than the hue of his cheek.

CD cover I made for "The Green Mile"

Nice. The tunnel blending into the smoke is well done.

Retouching an old photo - before and after

I'm still working on this one (it's a ~3000 x ~4000 scan and I'm going pixel by pixel), but here it is so far. I got most of the major flaws repaired, and I just keep making more passes, getting whatever is most noticeable at the time. In a few years it should be perfect.

    Hey

I just joined the forum. I've been using Corel PhotoPaint for ages, and just made the move to PhotoShop, so I'm here looking for tips, tutorials, and general info to get myself up and running. I mostly use it for editing/retouching personal photos... I'm not a professional graphics person.
