    They won't be so cheerful after a couple of rounds. Just a quick one, the selection is a disaster. And so is the shadow. And color. But I haven't saved the PSD file. I'll make a better version if I catch time. But I wanted to post this no matter what because it's fun.

    You have to see the grid, then it snaps to grid if you have that checked. With shift you can draw at 0, 90, and 45 angle.

    Just for your information, DPI has nothing to do with resolution. Also, no matter how small your resolution is, you can always draw freely with pen. I think you have snap to grid as PseFranks stated. Or, you're holding shift all the time :D

    Windows XP 64-bit has an awful support for anything. I recommend installing Win7 64-bit, it's great. On your problem, try to use older drivers. Worked for me when I had Open GL issues.

    You have a bit of halo around the dog head. Try masking the head, and then take the smudge tool, and smudge your mask invard to get that hair effect. Of course, unless you wanted that halo.

    I think it's too complex. Your letters have a nice compatibility ( Z and A ), and I think they can be combined in a good shape. I'll try to draw a few now. But this one you've got here is a bit too complex, and too textured. Logo should be simple.

    I might be a little harsh, but trust me, it's better for self improvement. If people tell you that's it's great, just to be polite, you'll never improve.

    The face glows too much, and the colors are a bit off. It doesn't look realistic. As for the eye, coloring is more than brushing in color mode, or setting your layer to color blending mode. Play with hue, saturation.
