    Drawing lines - vector style

Illustrator awkward? Never--Illustrator and Photoshop complement each other nicely.

    two monitors

My Macs at work have dual ATI cards. I keep my image on a 21" Viewsonic and my palettes on whatever 17" monitors happen to be available. At home, on my pc, I use a Matrox dual head video card. I highly recommend Matrox cards for Photoshop work, and I think most other PS pros will also. Dual...

    Raster to Vector

Look at Adobe Streamline. I've never used it, but have heard some good things!

Image Copyright & Other Such Things...

Lynny, I should have followed this post from the top but I didn't so everything is a bit off kilter. I was in a meeting at work just a couple of weeks ago and heard this whole thing of a 10% change (actually I thought it was a bit less) constituting an avoidance of copyright and the...

Image Copyright & Other Such Things...

My experience is that about 99% of the people have no knowledge of copyright law or have a very skewed idea of what it is. Go straight to the copyright office and publish their guidelines and follow them!

    Keyboard Shortcuts

You may not need to create your own. My understanding is that there are several hundred undocumented keyboard shortcuts in Photoshop. I would really try posting this on the appropriate Adobe forum.

What version of Photoshop are you running? Have you tried running Adobe Gamma?

    Photoshop Install on MAC

PS is cross platform compatable in that the files created by each platform within PS transfer so long as the file is appended correctly. The program comes separately for each platform and there are some minor differencies, primarily in interface.

The optimum Photoshop settings, scratch discs etc any ideas?

I run the same set-up except I have 1gig of ram. Normally I associate 50% of ram to Photoshop. Photoshop likes to have a separate scratch disc with free contiguous space. I have a partition (8 gigs) which is used only for Photoshop. That is really too much, but it was convenient when I sent it...

    Photoshop 8

Interesting news. 4th quarter would seem a bit late to me, but maybe not. Fortunately I have a maintenance contract. When the version changes I get updates right away on Photoshop, Illustrator, In-design, mmm, probably some others also. Photoshop alone is , I think, 35 licenses.

How many of you are graphix makers?

I make my living with Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Flash, etc., but I still wouldn't do it if it was not fun and if I did not enjoy it.

Interesting! I looked at some of this. I didn't know there wasa a russelbrown.com, but I will bookmark it. I have looked a lots of his stuff on the Adobe site.

Better use of Unsharp Mask ( USM )

Yeah, I spend a lot of time in the Adobe forums and I remember the clashes between Timo, Bruce, and Chris. I followed the threads and my vote was with Bruce and Chris. Having seen this I may need to go back to the Adobe forums and see what they have in their archives.

photoshop performing extremly slow?? help please

:) Erik nailed most everything in his explanations, but I have found that rather than looking at scan dpi numbers I look at the filesize to determine what I want to do. Normally a 20meg file is more than enough for an 8x10 color print output, in fact an image 8x10 @ 240ppi should be optimum...
