    Thanks, that method didn't give me what I originally wanted (probably because I didn't do it right) however it does give an even better effect :-)

    Hi, This may have a bad title, I'm not really sure what to call my question lol. I'm looking for a way to get text (using the text tool) to remove the background that it is being typed onto (although I understand it gets put into its own text layer). I want it to reveal the layer underneath...
