    Subtle. And yes, the negative space is great. Thinking about the light source here, (the moon), the wolfs head would be more silhouetted like the trees are.

    Pigeon - Short aperture effect

    I have been working on this painting of a pigeon we are looking after and decided to try to put a photographic short aperture style (blurred background) on a new layer. Im not that impressed with the results. Does anyone know of a good tutorial or way to get this effect nailed?? Cheers

    How to make brush design transparent?

    I just copied the top image into photoshop, then went to edit > define brush. Tested the brush and all white parts of the new brush are transparent including the splodge in the middle. So perhaps it is the way you are creating the brush which is the issue
