    Thanks I'll check it out! Already I've started to use a combination of your suggestions which has helped a lot. Specifically: desaturate -> levels / curves -> then the steps in that first link (select rgb layer -> inverse -> paste a black fill onto a new layer. But i'll do a search for that...

    Suede texture creating help

    set a solid grey layer, make a new layer on top of it, and then download a brush with some speckle or ridges in it and go crazy?

    How to create this effect?

    I would search for different brushes - and find a good speckle brush. Then select the speckle brush instead of a little pixel, select the color you want, and place them where you want. That image looks like it's got a lens flare on it too and the right side of the image has some sort of color...

    I'd try to do it yourself, but I'm going to say that it might be hard because of the shadows. Still... try to get a picture of him from a similar angle and cut it out and try to get it together. Or maybe just crop the undesirable parts of the picture out? There seems like enough room around...

    Hey guys!

    I'm new here... probably a moderate PS user. I use it every day, but I'm not like a w i z a r d with it or anything. I work a lot, but I keep meaning to get better with PS and hopefully this forum will help me along, and through it I can help some other people along too. - Justin
