    just a opinion as a on looker .. i think the 2 and 4 th image could have their background transparency tuned down a bit and also wen u are makinga wallpaper of cartoon heros... i wud prefer to have them brighter or shiny and centralised than the rest of image i believe its gives them more...

    the techinique i use to get patterns out of images is .. first save the image tht u want as pattern in seperate jpg file. then simply open it in Photoshop and go to Edit>define pattern >give it a name and save > and its done to use the pattern..select the pattern stamp tool and choose ur pattern...

    using work of others

    as a newb here.. my opinion is tht der is nothing wrong in doin tht.however if u are doin soemthing for commercial purpose be sure to use the free images,,also creating ur own images helps u learn new stuffs
