    Cant work frequency seperation after doing retouching. Why?

    I would love any advice on an issue I'm having with portrait retouching. I am quite new so may be doing something wrong. The first thing i do when i retouch is use the patch tool and spot healing brush to clean up imperfections, stray hairs etc. i do this after making a copy of my background...

    Smart Objects Limitations

    I understand the power of smart objects and their non destructive nature, however there are edits that can't be done with them. For instance, frequency separation. All the videos I've seen at some point tell you to "apply image". This can't be done to a smart object because the action is grayed...

    Skin retouching with frequency separation

    Some before and after pictures of me re-touching photos using frequency separation. I'm still learning Photoshop but I think these look pretty good. What do you guys think? Comments and/or suggestions would be appreciated :) Before: After: Before: After:
