Affair font trouble?

Hello, I have recently got the font 'Affair' by Sudtipos. However.
When I come to use it in Photoshop CS5, it looks like this;
affairfonthelp1.png
HOWEVER, in Paint and the Character map it looks like this;
affairfonthelp2.png
I REALLY want it to be like the 2nd image, without the curves.

What do I do?

If all else fails, save your text in Paint and import it as a graphics file.

I admit that I have no idea why it would appear differently in Photoshop.

I looked at the Affair font and unless I pay for it (which isn't gonna happen) I can't figure it out either. Both the plain and the fancy characters exist in the map, but I can't figure what triggers one or the other. Perhaps someone else who owns that font can respond.

you could always rasterize the text and erase the curves

It's meant to be that way

Right from the source

Affair. It's an event and you're invited. Affair is an extraordinary new calligraphic typeface by Alejandro Paul with a party full of swash characters, ligatures, and ornaments. By default, it's simply an elegant yet readable display face. Dress it up with alternates, and it becomes irresistibly attractive, in styles from glamourous to over-the-top. Hundreds of alternates, tons of swashy endings and ligatures, all accessible through OpenType palettes in programs that support such features.

go to window > Character and see if you have any of these boxes activated
View attachment 13840

None of those are active.

If it's meant to be that way, why is it showing up different?

It says "Dress it up with alternates" I assume that means edit to what you like

That font is an open type font which has a greater variety of characters and alernative shapes. Paint does not have the capability for advanced varieties thus it displays the normal characters.

Don't get all goo-goo over it. That's urban rap slang from, like, 1998.

Sierra, I just noticed you're in Cali. Anywhere near San Diego?
