Background problem

So i have a picture 316 x 318 pixels
I would like to overlay this picture to sony vegas pro 12
so i create a new project 1280 x 720
unlock the layer
add a layer
uncheck the first layer so my second layer is transparent
i copy my picture and paste it.
when i save it as JPEG
i get my picture and the white background how can i remove the white background
so i make it overlay

So are you trying to make the original jpg bigger?

So if you do stretch the jpg it will look so pixelated and so horrible.

So why don't you use vegas to stretch the jpg?

no i solve the problem , JPEG does not sopport transparent PNG does
