Bad Scanned Images ?

Hi , I just bought a new scanner, and after few days , it started scanning like this :

as you can see those lines, what are they ? setting problem ? or scanner problem ? and if scanner problem any way to hide them in ps ?

What are they being scanned as? tiff, jpg, bmp??

I know i had problems when I scanned in as tiff files I got lines just like those described. I switched it to jpg and it worked fine.
