Ever since Ammaro posted his "black to blonde technique, http://www.photoshopgurus.info/forum/viewtopic.php?p=25386&highlight=#25386,
I've been fascinated with trying this for myself! Thank you, Ammar for inspiring me! :righton:

The following is the result of many hours of experimentation... and now that my trash basket is full, I share it with you and challenge you to give it a "go".

Included with this first post is the original "source" brunette image. My results will follow in the next post, along with a tutorial on the technique
that I used.

My results:

The Tutorial:

[saywhat] What a job!
That is some good work there biss, I'm impressed!

Now that looks good Wendy, realllly good :righton:

I like the idea of using white for the colour layer. I was experimenting with yellow but never had any good results.

Great work on the instructions :righton:
I'm going to give this one a try too ;)

AWESOME TUTORIAL WENDY :righton: i dont need to bleech my hair for picture day anymore [excited]

:D Thanks, Rick, Gauss & Geoff! I can't wait to see how you all make out with this project! :D

Gauss, it was only through the same experimentation that you've been going through, that I stumbled onto the white overlay layer! It really brings out the highlights and lightens the darks. I was using pseudo yellows too and was getting very frustrated with my results...and for quite some time. ;)

... yes, and you might save yourself a ton of money too![/b]

Soul And Mind, this is done entirely in Photoshop. If you are unaccustomed to any of the terms or techniques involved here, feel free to post a question and one of us will do our best to clarify and help you out! ;)

If you are brand new to Photoshop, I would suggest that you start with some "beginner" tutorials to familarize yourself with the tools, techniques and terminology involved. I can assure you that this is, by no means, a "beginner's tutorial" and I'd much rather see you getting acquainted and comfortable with Photoshop first, before tackling a project like this. :)

Our host, TheKeeper, has some good ones here http://photoshopgurus.info/beginner.shtml

Looks great Wendy sadly though [doh] I have to do some work first but I will give it a go later :righton:

Thanks Miestro Ammaro! :D 'Twas you who inspired me to give this a "go"! ;)

;\ Wait, I apologize... I missed your comment earlier! Thank you for same! :D

Ammaro! :bustagut: [confused]... [shhh]

Does nobody want to try this great tutorial? [confused]

You can learn a lot from it, trust me.

I've tried it myself, but didn't have the right photo to work with. Maybe someone can post one and make it a challenge, because I know that we can do more than just a fodder [stuned]

C'mon guys ;)

nice tute, and nice effect Wendy (wbiss) ... I'm going to give it a try .. it might break my PS7 inspiration drought ... question though - can you explain a clipping layer (has gone right over the top of my head :D) ... and a suggestion for all tute writers - please state which version of PS was used 'cos as PS evolves this will be very handy for users of older (and newer) PS versions ... and finally I am unable to post a pic of dark haired lady to help the challenge 'cos I only know blondes :bustagut: :bustagut:

Thanks Ian! It really pleases me that you're going to try this. :)

I, BTW, use Photoshop 7.

A clipping layer basically puts one layer "inside" another layer. Hopefully, my image here should help clarify this a little better. [confused]
