MORE INFO:

Most of the photos that I scanned on my HP printer can be opened, changed, and saved in PS 7 along with a lot of the photos I took with my Pixel 7 phone. The ones that I cannot save are photos I took with the phone and then transferred to my desktop. Those photos are all around 4000x3000 pixels and it's only the photos I took over the last 3 months or so (earlier photos on the phone do not seem to have the problem). I'm not sure what the actual problem is because I keep getting confused during my testing.

So I set my HP printer to scan a magazine cover at 4000x6000 pixels and save it as a JPG. Then I opened the scan in PS 7, made a couple changes (cropped, added a couple streaks with the paintbrush) and I was able to save the file without problems using Save and then Save as. Then I took the magazine outside, photographed it with the phone, transferred the image to my desktop, opened it in Photoshop, and I was not able to Save or Save as.

It appears that the phone is introducing something in the jpg files that chokes Photoshop but I don't know where to look for it. Does anybody have any suggestions?

What is our favorite program/app? (Hint - it begins and ends with the letter P)
