Cant Drag JPG image to stage.

Hi, I m a newbie, Ive tried to drag an image to my photoshop workspace, howver when I try to do so it instead creates a new window of its own. How can I get around this thanks.
 
That's strange.... I can drag & drop an image direct into PS. Try opening the image normally via PS........
