Well I dunno then.

I just tried it again and as I said before, as long as there is at least one file of the same type, (in this case .jpg), in a folder in the library, (be that 'My Pictures' or whatever), then PS is fine with it.

What exactly is not happening for you? What happens when you try to save the image?

I'm still not convinced I fully understand exactly what the problem is, sorry.
