Ummmmmmm.......because I am stoopid? I will explore that option. Here is a link to a picasaweb album I did earlier as a test. The end goal is to fix a set of historical events into a spatial context. I will go to sourceforge to find a free ocr program. Thanks for the heads up. http://goo.gl/xqyCS
