Just to be absolutely clear. This is what the above mentioned ad sent as a JPEG would look like when converted to CMYK using Image>Mode>CMYK. In this example the black channel is turned off so you can see that the black type is showing up on the CMY channels.

This is what the same ad would look like using the maximum black generation trick (black channel turned off as in above example).
