This request is based on this thread where the following photo was posted...

...and a cartoon effect was requested. Some of the responses viz from @IamSam and @GeneGraphics were terrific.

Specifically, the detail towards the Ears, Eyes and Mouth besides the slanted line shading for shadows. I would be grateful to receive inputs on how this was achieved?

This entire drawing was created using the Pen Tool and the Brush Tool, with the exception of the lined shading. Each line was drawn using the Pen Tool and then stroked with a predetermined brush setting of the Brush Tool. This "brushing" part was set up as an action which either saved or deleted the path according to my preference.

Although I have been using a similar technique for years, this VIDEO best describes what I use now.

Once I had the basic outline of the baby's head established by creating a closed path and stroking....

I began work on the individual features, starting with setting up my brush.

With the Pen Tool I create an open path of the outline of the nose....

Then stroke the path.

A closed path for the shadow of the nose...

Fill the path with black and lower the layers opacity to 75%

All open paths for the mouth....

Each open path stroked.

Closed path for shadowed area of mouth...

Filled with opacity reduced.

Duplicated the closed path for mouth shadow and removed area for tongue.

All of the mouth components combined....

For the lined shading.........I create a rectangle filled with white. I then added a layer style with a pattern overlay of the diagonal lines.
I then duplicated this layer and turned the duplicate off.
Screen Shot 2021-10-08 at 11.15.18 PM.png

Then using the Pen Tool, I outlined all of the shaded areas and made it into a selection...
Screen Shot 2021-10-08 at 11.18.36 PM.png

I then created a layer mask on the active lined layer with the selections...
Screen Shot 2021-10-08 at 11.20.57 PM.png

To darken the left side. I used a different set of selections on the duplicate lined layer.

Screen Shot 2021-10-08 at 11.24.32 PM.png

Then created a layer mask. I could have taken this step further but this is where I stopped.

If I have missed something let me know and I will gladly explain!

Extra ordinary! The painstaking efforts were very well explained, I thank you for that, @IamSam

I think you have covered all steps extensively.

I began work on the individual features, starting with setting up my brush.
I am guessing this process of "Setting up the brush" would need a lot of experience in this area to set up the brush to suit the requirement. Having the brush strokes to be tapering in corners was an apt choice. The linked video is helpful in this regard.
