Thank you for your detailed reply and solution.

I'm not so sure this is going to work as an action for me - beginning with how to save a .txt file with(in) a .psd.

I'm using CS4 on a mac.

Maybe i made my explanation worse than it is?  ... I have two lines of text (with font and effects ascribed) in one psd file.

I want to make an action so that I can grab those two lines and drop them on top of an opened .psd file.

Then  I can edit text to fit the file width (by hand, unless there is some  kind of auto-scale?) before selecting my existing action which reads:   align one layer to center, align to top, then align other layer to  center, align to bottom, save psd, flatten, save as jpg, close.

Is the solution still as complex as you describe?
