copying a piece of grass

im messing with a digital photo and want to copy a piece of grass and paste it on other parts of the photo. im not that new to photoshop and have used it before but cant remember how to do it. if anyone can help itd be much appreciated. thanks
 
Hi cheezehead,

If you have a specific blade of grass big enough, the first step would be to select it. You could use the Pen Tool to trace a path around it and then, at the bottom of the Paths use the Load path as selection button to load a selection. Another alternative would be to use the Polygonal Lasso Tool and carefully click your way around the blade to create your selection. Don't forget to zoom in on the image to make more accurate selections.

Then copy you selected area to a new layer. Layer > New > Layer via copy (Control/Command J). Once your blade is on a new layer you can use the Move Tool (V) and by holding down the Alt/Option key you can move and clone a new blade each time you click hold and move the cursor.

Will that do it?
