Hi everyone. This is a rather specific question that I can't seem to find the answer to.

How do you create crisp buttons? I have a client that needs a number of buttons saved at 32x32, 24x24 and 16x16 pixels. I have designed the buttons in Illustrator, but when they are placed into photoshop they can end up blurring. I understand they have to pixelate, but the problem I am having is that some of the vertical and horizontal lines end up sitting between to rows of pixels and so spread across both, blurring the line. Is there any magic way to fix this other than fine tuning the position, or altering the vector? Or should these types of buttons be created in a different program?

I am generally very proficient with Photoshop, but I've never had to work at this scale before. Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance.

Thank you so much raikkonen, this does seem to be the 'magic' answer I was looking for. I knew it would be simple. I do however have another slight problem. I've set my Illustrator document to 32x32 pixels, so when I place it into Photoshop it should fit perfectly. However my client wants the at 96dpi, and when I paste the vector in it is slightly too big, as I'm assuming Illustrator is working at 72dpi. But I can't find a setting in Illustrator to get it to work at 96dpi. Can anyone shed some light?

Thanks in advance.

I reaaly can'n understand what the problem is. You got ur buttons pixel aligned and with proper pixel sixe. Export ur stuff from Illustrator to png or tiff or any raster file, open it in Photoshop and change its resolution.

I know it sounds weird and a little bit fiddly, but there are reasons I need to copy the vector image into Photoshop at 96dpi. So i ideally need my illustrator file to work at 96dpi to preserve the size. I've tried to explain my problem in this pieced together image:

Sorry to be a pain, and thanks again for your help.

Okay, there's one per rectum way to do this. Change temporarily the resolution of your destination document to 72dpi, insert your smart object from Illustrator, then change back to 96dpi.
