Check to see if the color space of the input file is different from the default color space you have set for Photoshop.  If it is, there is a good chance that all that happened is that an automatic conversion from one space to the other occurred when you brought the file into PS. 


When a color space conversion occurs, to represent the same color, the numbers MUST change.
