Afternoon,

I'm very new to photoshop. I'm using cs2

What i would like to do is:
Cut around a certain part of a picture, removing the background, giving me an object that will look a tad more professional, displayed over a white background.

In this case, remove the background from an image of an iPhone case. Also removing the background showing through the camera cut out on.

I could do this in inkscape, however it takes a long time to cut it out perfectly, maybe there is a better method using Photoshop?

Then, once the iPhone case has been cut out and saved as a template, I'd like to layer an image over it, no idea how to do this...
So the object would be a prop so to speak, allowing me to open the iPhone case image with no background, layer over an image, save it and repeat for all of my designs.

Thank you in advance

Inkscape? Rob, this is a Photoshop forum. Isn't Inkscape a vector program ? Maybe it will do what your asking, but I think you need a bitmap edit program, in the freebie arena, I think Gimp. Photoshop rules that world.

Yes, Selection is the answer as IAmSam advised
