I was hoping i could get major design help for my mobile app. Here is the homescreen, at least here I just want it to look less dull, and more full of dimension. Most of all professional like a typical mobile app. any tips?activity_home.jpg

Hi Anthony. If you want free, major, professional, design advice for your mobile app that you are most likely going to try and sell for profit, then we're going to need more information on the app.

You might as well have just asked us how you can take a square and make it look more like a Picasso from his cubist period. :)

Looks like a composition book to me. And yes it is rather dull. Very dull in fact. As fatboy said, what is the app? Can't really design an appropriate one without knowing what it is. But first of all, I would say, unless it is about schoolwork, I would get rid of the texture you are using.

So, from what you say, it sounds like you want pointers, tips, and tutorials, as well as design suggestions so you can make this better in Photoshop? We can help you with that. Like we said, let's start with the application information and what ideas you might have for what it should look like, besides "professional" and "typical" which don't mean a THING.

I don't know if the grain/ noise is there intentionaly, but it really ruins the look IMO. If people see that on a HD tablet, it would be shocking.

Why not try a bit of a smoother approach, and a little less wood.

The thing is, only you know what you want it to look like, and you obviously have an idea in your head what makes an app design look professional.
