erasing the "border" to become part of the background

Hey guys!

I am a Photoshop novice and I was just experimenting with Photoshop. Okay, so here's the deal. I extracted an image of myself and pasted my cut out image into another background. Fine. However, when I pasted my image into the background, obviously, the bordering of my image overlaps with the background, therefore not giving it clear, overall look. So, in other words, there is like black outlining around my image which overlaps with the background and I want to erase just this "black outlining" part so that my image looks like a clear, cut out transition smoothly pasted into the background. I hope I'm being clear for it is quite difficult to explain this situation. Thanks guys!

I think I understand what you're saying...
You've done a good job cutting and pasting your picture onto another one.
OK, now you take the eraser, but choose a medium brush and make it soft-edged.
Try to erase as much as you can with this brush, and if that fails, you can take the magnetic lasso tool and outline your silhouette.

After this take the lasso tool and outline your picture, and then use the Effect-Blur-Gausian blure (about 2 or 3).
