feathering

this is my 1st post and I am a beginner with ps
I have a picture which I have surrounded with a round mask and black towards the edges and I would like to feather the edges of the picture
trouble is I dont know how
any help please

Make your selection with the OVAL MARQUEE TOOL
Feather the edge 12-25 pixels (you may need to experiment with this)
Inverse Selection
Fill with black
