Filling Selection Problem

Hi there,

Actually I am not really new to Photoshop...
but I have a problem which I can't seem to solve..
and I have the feeling it's really simple but I'm just nog seeing it...
and since this is the place all the Guru's get together
I thought this is the place to find the answer!

Here's my Problem.

If I make a selection and I fill it with the Fill option,
it sometimes if filled precisely up to the selection borders
with an opacity of 100% all over...
But Sometimes it fills with a Fade out at the edge.. which goes beyond the selection. For some reason I never can find the reason for it, perhaps I'm just being dumb here.. but I'd really like to know what the Heck I'm doing wrong.

Thanks allready (and for all the other Super Tips I found on the site and the forum!! you sure got another fan..)

Hi there
Welcome Aragorn!

your problem...
You could have something ticked or checked something that applies the feather tecnique. There are options you can select that when you fill/paste and do other things it applies the filter setting. Not 100% on how to solve this but just look around and it shouldnt be too hard to find

Thanxz a lot, I presume it was the feather I just kept forgetting.

Though this brings me to a new problem.
What is the easiest way to creat a Rectangle form with round corners?
(kind of the way a selection looks when you feather it)

Easiest way is to use an illustrator, but is it possible with just PS?

Seems I'd better keep surfin' this site some more before asking more questions ;)

Thanxz A lot...
by the way.. Any of you have a special Preference as to what Music you listen to while working on something???

AraVitz

Depending on the work to do, the mood I'm in, and the full moon etc etc, one of my sometimes favourites is King Crimson, more specifically when Belew sings: "I repeat myself when under stress, I repeat myself when under stress, I repeat myself when under stress,..." [saywhat]

Apart from that I'm an omnivore, going from classical Persian music (Motebassem, Kamkar, Alizadeh, Sjajarian, Bima, Kalhor, Parisa,...) to Fields of the Nephilim, from Wagner (Tristan, Parsifal) to Elysian Fields and from Ligeti to the pure promise of Virginal Silence.

Great.. thanxz for all the Help...

as to the music... I don't drink tea at all, just Coffee Black Strong and Sugar ;)

But The thing was, I never really listen to Fast Music (Trance, Dance, Techno 'fast' I mean) when working on something..
but like you said... Depending on the Mood, it Differs from Jazz to Classical Opera Aria's or Overtures to Freddy Mercury doin his thing...

but since This is not a Music Forum perhaps I can end with saying that what I thought seems true.. some music of today just ain't fit for listen when PS is on your screen... :P

AraVitz (now checkin the Rounding Links!!)

I am not listening to any music right now but you should hear what I can hear.......... it is early morning here and I can hear mother nature in full swing....... frogs are croaking, sacardas are shrilling or making their high pitched noise, birds are chirping, kookaburra's are laughing and I can hear the rain softly falling........ arhhhhhhhhhh perfect harmony and only in the tropics! what better inspiration could I ask for :D
