G'day all - A new member having trouble with PICTs

After scanning a pic as a jpeg I open it up in Photoshop to crop and size the image. When I save, it becomes a PICT format which doesn't preview in my Quark document.
I'm on a PC with Photoshop 7 and Quark 5.

when you save a file in photoshop it will automatically save it as a .psd You have to click on the save file type and check off a file type that quark will recognize. it is a long shot but i had that trouble before in another illustration software program
