Graphic Card for Photoshop

My post is more for a general hardware query than completely for Photoshop but it is related to PS so please do reply me.

I had a intel board, with onboard graphics. i had 2gb of ram. What i wanted is a 4gb ddr3 ram and therefor i changed my board to a ASUS board, which supported my current 775 processor dual core and also supported ddr3 ram which i installed.

After assembling all things together in my cpu case, i holded the lcd monitor cable and while i was going to connect it to cpu graphic card at backend...i was shocked and learnt that i was may be a fool to buy this board because this new asus board does not have on board graphic card.

So that was the story and now i have to buy a graphic card because returning these boards is kind of not easy.

So, i thought, if i was happy with 128mb graphic card which was builtin in previous board, i think purchasing a used 128 or 256 pci x16 card would not be too expensive. So what do you suggest, with a lowest budget, which pcix16 graphic card is good for using it in my pc so i can use Photoshop and Illustrator normally. atleast better than i used to have in my previous system. Keeping in mind that i have 4gb ram this time.

Please guide me. Thanks

Just a Quick Note. You may want to Check the Adobe.com Site for Hardware info.

If You have CS6 with Extended Capabilities, I believe they require a Video Card with 512mb of RAM to enable features such as 3D, Filter Oil Paint, and the Adaptive Lens Correction Filter. If You are Still Stuck in the Dark Ages like me? Your current Video Card should be Ok.

thank you Tracy,

All i can say after your reply is.... I wish i had "a current graphic card" i invite you to read my post again and try to understand a silly mistake i have made.

lol thanks though

The lowest cards I would look at are 1gb ati 5450 or 1gb nvidia 610. Both are around the $30-$40 mark here in Australia. They are stingy cards so I'm not sure how well photoshop will go with them, but better than onboard for sure.
