Make sure that matte is set to the background color on your page, in the example below I'm assuming it's white.


A few other issues which could cause this is:


- not well designed font (but this should be visible in Photoshop too. Make sure you test it in Photoshop with a (temporary) white background) 

- improper anti-aliasing, in this case I recommend smooth.

- not showing the image at 100%, meaning you have a width and height setting in your HTML code which isn't the same as the original size of the image
