You need to get the acrylic (UK = perspex). That stuff your speaking of from Lowes might work. I have used it for other purposes but not for your purpose. I think it's about $15 for a 4x8 sheet, at that price it would be worth a shot. Acrylic for a 4x8 sheet of 1/8" thick, in say White, gonna run you about $60 + frt for a 4x8. The best price for the acrylic is Calsak Plastics. They have branches all around, I get mine from Atlanta, cut to size.
