Hi,

I wonder if anyone can advise me on how to create the subtle wavy line effect (as shown on the image below). It will be used on a 960px width header image.

Many thanks.

One simple technique uses the wave filter. FILTERS>DISTORT>WAVE. Select only 1 wave generator and select "sine". Play around with wavelength, amplitude and scale until you get the desired result. Another method involves paths, but it's more complicated. I can give you instructions for that if you desire. But give the wave filter a try first.

Thank you, Jaysuess. I will try the wave filter first and shout again if I can't get that quite right.

Thank you very much. I would never have thought of doing that. Let me rephrase that: I would never have realized you could do that. Very cool. :cool2:

Thank you for all the replies, but special thanks to jaysuess whose method seemed to provide the most accurate and consistently repeatable results over various sizes, etc.

I am happy with the end result and have posted the settings I used in the hope that it might help others in the future. The knack seemed to be in getting the vertical scaling on the wave distortion filter right.

Thanks again, I appreciate it.
