how to do photoshapes like this?

Hi i would like to learn how to do these sorts of things along with other shape (not just circle, triangle etc) but shapes made by myself to fit. What would you call this so i can search for videos on how to do it?

Hi. You should search for videos on Clipping Masks. Here's a very basic one to get you started, which contains two examples: one involving a TV screen and one involving text.
