How to retain the name of file when creating new window in automate

I have an automate script that resizes, creates rounded corners, and drop shadows. Based on what I've seen for other photoshop tutorials you have to create a new window (file->new) and paste the results into that and do a few more steps. At this point you lose your file name and when I do a 'save for web', it has a hard coded name in it that was entered manually from when I recorded the script .

So what I need to do is retain the original file name so that I'm not prompted a 100 times during an automate?

I'm new to batch processing. I have looked up several sites that have had useful information but is there any particular 'goto' site for this process.
