You I would think you will be able to be slightly more accurate with the track ball, just mack sure you don't have the movement speed to something close to slow, just to give you even more control. I usually use the touch pad on my dell laptop, but I could quite as easily use my Bamboo tablet, or a mouse. I don't really have a preference in that way. The key is learning keyboard short cuts, mainly how shift and alt affect the anchors and handle when clicking, but also "P", "+", and "-".
