Hi vozizm and welcome to the board! :righton:

You came exactly to the right place ;)

We have a lot of members who are very willing to answer your questions!
You'll find that out soon :)

Don't be afraid to ask anything you want. We have members with all kind of experience on our board; absolute beginners, more experienced users, but also some real gurus!

Most of us understand how overwhelming Photoshop can be for newcomers... any of us was in that same situations at one time.

Some advices:
  • buy a good book

Use the board's search option and search for Photoshop book... you'll probably find all the answers you need and if not...ask ;)

  • go easy in the beginning

Don't try to go too fast; you'll only get disappointed.
Take it step by step... learn the interface first and then try to learn a new tool/effect every few days.

  • practice/experiment

    Very important!
Don't read what a tool does, but also experiment with it.
Try Photoshopgurus' tutorials... you'll learn a lot from them. If you have a problem with one of the tutorials... no problem, just drop a question on this board and you'll get an answer as soon as possible...guaranteed! ;)

You might also consider to use a search engine like Google. Type for example: photoshop tutorial "crop tool" to search for tutorials that you're interested in.

    We also have a thread that contains some interesting links;

    http://www.photoshopgurus.info/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1232

Sometimes we have some challenges on the board. My advice; join them, practice. Try to compete with yourself, try to improve.
Make sure that you always learn something and it doesn't matter how little it is. Don't look ahead of you to see what you haven't learnt, but look back to see what you have ;)

  • ask/read

That's what we have this board for :D

  • and the most important thing; have fun!

Don't try to learn things that you don't really need. Be focused and above all... have just plain fun on this board.[/list:u]Again... nice to have you here Vozism :righton:

Welcome. I am sure you will have tonne of fun with this present. There is no need to be scared, just start messing around and ask quesitons along the way.

Welcome aboard vozizm! :)

As a 'new user', you've definitely come to the right place! There's not a friendlier and more willing 'group' around the net!!!! [excited]

And, 'whoever' (whomever?) of your children gave you the program for Father's Day...well just write them into your will right now 'cause you'll soon discover that they've unleased a 'creative beast'!!!! :D

Gaussian has given you excellent advice!!! :righton:

All I can add is that we're all here for you! Even when you have (what you might think to be) the silliest or most embarassing questions... we're here for you! :righton:

Have a 'poke around' and get a "feel" for the board and then fire up PS and "dive in"!!!!! We all had to do exactly the same thing at one point!!!

[shhh] And, DO NOT, under any circumstance, let the software intimidate you!

Hi There Vozizm:

All of the respondents above are truly representative of the great people in this forum...

Their advice is sage.....start easy...learn the tools...and the interface of this forum as well as your software...Many people come and go as new members with only a post or two..never to be seen again!

Its too bad and it is their loss for not giving the PSG forum and the photoshop software a chance....I have only been here for a month or two and I am a total noob to photoshop...I lurk the threads alot...I learn a little process here...a few hints there...and I don't try to compete against the experts here of which there are many....

Be patient and I guarentee you will learn and you will find your own path..and shortly you will feel good about your progress.....

welcome to the mix, VOZIZM!
I don't know what else to add to the excellent advices given so far!

vozizm ... go easy on yourself ... if my old (biker) brain can handle Photoshop, I'm sure you can .... the folk here are super friendly and mega helpfull, they don't have silly egos and genuinely want to help the new-comer ... so post your questions/problems, everyone here will help you, why? ... 'cos somewhere, at sometime someone helped them, and they have not forgotten that :) ... PS pic below is of an old 'biker' brain
