Is it my issue or is it Adobe's?

Dear Gurus,
For years several aspects of Photoshop annoyed me quite a bit and I have always suspected that it was my lack of understanding of the program, rather than absurdly obvious problems overlooked by Adobe... so here are some of them:

  • Inability to change blending modes or layer properties for multiple layers at once. I frequently work with 50-80 layers and it is extremely inconvenient to manually change properties for each one. So even for minor changes I have to create Styles and then apply them or to use Actions and in some cases write Scripts. It is akin of changing formatting in Word one sentence at a time...
  • Inability to set defaults for JPG saves - every time Photoshop have to prompt for compression values. Again the only solutions that I have found are Actions and Scripts.
  • Inability to quickly create stacks of layers from dragging and dropping multiple files into the program - I have to press Enter after every file - 80 files - 80 presses. Scripting solves it, but why such simple operation should ever require scripting?
  • Inability to use the program while it processes files, modal dialog boxes that prevent me from using multiple aspects of the program at once, inability to queue multiple operations without resorting to actions or scripts (Bridge helps a bit), the list goes on...
Working in Photoshop I feel that I am in stone age of computing... I hope it is just my misunderstanding... I will appreciate your advise.

sounds like the last one you mentioned is your PC spec or something, i can usually get around photoshop while it's processing.
