Layer Styles Don't Reflect?

In the past I have received requests to make a reflection of a text or an image that has a layer style(s) on them (e.g. stroke, outer/inner glow, etc). The problem with this is, when I go in and make a reflection (I use the layer mask method), the styles are not reflected as they are supposed to. Has anyone else encountered this problem? What should I do? Thanks ahead of time!

Convert your text or image to Smart Object. Make a copy of it, reflect, move, transform, etc...
You can add a layer mask to reflection.

Besides, the text and styles are still editable
