Learning about actions

I have been trying to learn about actions and was pretty proud of myself, but apparently screwed something up in the process. I tried reinstalling PS but the problem continues.

I downloaded the attached action as a freebie and it was running fine. Now I get a message that:

Command Gradient Map not available.

I can see "Gradient Map" in the Command List.

Will someone point out my sin.

ok , is the image in mode RGB or greyscale ?

I think that you hit it. Mode was indexed color. I changed it to greyscale and it worked.
