I am building a site for a buddy of mine and am trying to create something that seems to be fairly difficult. He has his own demolition business and wants his main page to have a Caterpillar Track Loader (bull dozer) crushing a building. As the building collapses, the smoke and explosion form into his company name. I've began teaching myself and have come up with the following thus far:
http://briefcase.yahoo.com/slg111875@sbcglobal.net (My Documents).

A great example is on the below link:

Does anyone know of a tutorial that can help me with this or offer any advice to point me in the right direction?

Thanks,

Hi sig111875

If you really want to have an animation on the web page, you are almost surely going to have to do it in Flash. The GIF you've posted looks great but is already 575K! From a page loading point of view that is not realistic. Even with broadband, many people won't wait around for it to load.

Have you considered creating a static image of the bulldozer crunching about half a building and the smoke rising into the logo font?

The little GIF which you like (of the building collapsing) was done in a 3D program and, as the artist said, even then they had to write their own particle system to make it look realistic. Whew!

Maybe someone else will have an idea. \:]
