Following Sony's release of the Alpha 100

Just read this about it:

"Sony has renamed Minolta's CCD shift Anti-Shake system as 'Super SteadyShot', but the principal is the same. However we have it on good authority that Sony's engineers have made some significant improvements to the system and now claim shutter speeds 3.5 stops slower can be used with Super SteadyShot enabled."

Cool! :D

It's cool that the D80 has some nice features in it... and it's borrowing some build quality from the D200... but they took out some of the nice features of the D70s when they made it. ... and why go exclusively with SD? That's a mistake IMHO. A dual slot CF and SD would have made sense (Fuji knows this... look at their pro line camera). Silly.

Should shape up to be a nice year in photography though. Seeing some nice changes in P&S cameras as well. Fuji's F30 set the bar just a little higher with a P&S that has high image quality and usable 3200 ISO pictures all in a handheld package. The new line of canon P&S cameras is out and look to be fairly cool as well. Pentax is releasing a new Optimo that is pushing higher ISO as well... although not as nice as the Fuji. (Can you tell I love my F30? :D )

Fuji released the S3pro UVIR... a DSLR that can shoot high quality, high dynamic range photos as well as ultra violet and infrared spectrum. I read their release article that talked about police using the technology to identify a gang crime victim that had been burned unrecognizably. Apparently his tatoos were visible in the UV spectrum while not visible in the normal light spectrum. Something that would have normally taken weeks of lab work was instantly available. All for $1700 retail at release.

Ought to be a cool few months as all the new toys come out. Can't wait.

Hope that you won't give the idea for some people to try to put people with tatoos on fire.

Remember: do not try this at home! do it in your neighbour's!
